Human Trafficking: Engaging and Equipping APRNs for a Trauma-Informed Response

Back to Package

Nurse practitioners are uniquely positioned, but may be inadequately prepared to recognize or respond to a person being victimized by a trafficker. The International Labor Organization estimates there are up to 40.3 million victims of human trafficking worldwide. In the U.S. these forms of exploitation usually encompass sex and labor trafficking. However, globally, this $150 billion industry encompasses additional forms of trafficking include organ trafficking, child soldiering and child marriage. This course is designed to equip NPs and other health care professionals to recognize, educate and appropriately respond to patients who may be victimized by traffickers.
