Healthcare fraud cost billions per year. Some cases are blatant but others are subtle. Many cases are found by someone seeing something and saying something. The Office of the Inspector General (OIG) investigates cases of fraud and abuse. Learn about the health care laws to protect against fraud and abuse such as the False Claims Act. Learn about cases from the OIG across the country, who was involved, what constitutes fraudulent activity, what transpired during the investigations and outcomes with respect to fines and jail time. This session will teach the NP skills to question, identify and learn the ways to identify fraudulent practices. Learn how to protect yourself for becoming an unwitting participant.
