Beyond the Basics: Vaginal and Vulvar Health

This workshop will consist of three units that focus on vaginal and vulvar health. The first activity will be a presentation that reviews the most up to date sexual history techniques to ensure that providers are inclusive and complete in their data collection. The second activity will be a Jeopardy-style game that asks participants to identify common vaginal and vulvar physical exam findings, including sexually transmitted infections. The third activity will be an interactive conversation about vulvar and vaginal hygiene, the health and wellness market and potential health sequalae from hygiene product use.

Alison Marshall is a PhD prepared, Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP). She is an Assistant Professor of the Practice at Boston College School of Nursing, a Family Nurse Practitioner at the South Boston Community Health Center and Faculty at the STD/HIV Prevention Center of New England. Her research is focused on vulvar and vaginal health, vaginitis and sexually transmitted infections. Her clinical expertise is in the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of vaginitis and sexually transmitted infections. She lives in Boston with her family but will always remain loyal to her native Denver sports teams
