Clostridioides difficile Infection (CDI): Prevention, Treatment, and Recurrence

Clostridioides difficile infection (CDI) remains a significant healthcare burden, often arising as a consequence of antibiotic therapy. This presentation will delve into strategies aimed at minimizing CDI susceptibility, including judicious antibiotic use and the potential role of probiotics. We will then explore the current treatment guidelines for CDI, highlighting both commonalities and key differences across various recommendations. This comparative analysis will provide valuable insights for clinical decision-making. Finally, we will discuss emerging adjunctive therapies designed to reduce CDI recurrence. Evidence supporting the efficacy and safety of these new agents will be reviewed, along with practical clinical considerations for their appropriate use.
