This session will discuss the historical, social and environmental issues faced by LGBTQ+ older adults, common medical and psychosocial issues faced by LGBTQ+ older adults and strategies to meet the needs of this population and make their practice LBGTQ+ friendly.

Nanette Lavoie-Vaughan, DNP, ANP-C, CDP
Dr. Nanette Lavoie-Vaughan has over 40 years experience in the field of nursing including hospital, home health, skilled nursing and assisted living facilities, primary care and nursing education and consultation with a predominant focus in geriatrics. She is the author of multiple articles, book chapters and continuing education course. She has presented nationally and internationally on a wide variety of topics. She is a graduate of Florida State University and received her Doctorate of Nursing Practice at Vanderbilt University where she was awarded the Sigma Theta Tau Presentation Award for her doctoral project. She currently owns and operates Dr. Nurse Nan Consulting providing education seminars and courses, legal consulting for skilled nursing facilities, and professional speaking engagement.
