The number of people experiencing heart failure continues to grow, making it imperative that primary care clinicians understand the management of heart failure. This presentation will review the new 2022 Guidelines for the Management of Heart Failure. Optimal heart failure care and how primary care clinicians can partner with patients and heart failure providers will be reviewed. Additionally, optimal care is always the goal, but it is often limited by reality so real-life barriers to optimal heart failure care and patient-centered care will be discussed. Ways that primary care clinicians care for patients after heart transplant will also be reviewed. | 1.0 credits (0.50 Pharmacology) | $30

Heart failure impacts the lifestyle of patients in a variety of ways. This talk will review the recommendations that the 2022 Guidelines for the Management of Heart Failure provide for self-care, diet, exercise, cardiac rehab, and mental health. Optimal care will be detailed while also discussing barriers that prevent optimal care. Heart failure (HF) affects millions of people and is associated with substantial high morbidity and mortality, as well as high rates of hospitalization. Therefore, it is essential for practitioners to be able to diagnose and manage these individuals. Subsets of HF including HFpEF (preserved ejection fraction) and HFrEF (reduced ejection fraction) are commonly encountered in clinical practice. This session will focus on the recognition, treatment and prevention of HF, along with discussion of current guidelines that will assist practitioners to effectively manage these patients. | 1.50 credits (0.75 pharmacology) | $40

Atrial fibrillation (AF) remains the most common heart arrhythmia in the general population and is associated with significant morbidity and mortality. Appropriate identification and treatment are critical to prevent potential devastating sort-and long-term outcomes. Practitioners in all areas of practice will encounter patients with various stages of AF, and therefore must be able to identify, classify and treat this common arrhythmia. This session will focus on the classification of AF, identification and various treatment and preventative options. | 1.50 credits (0.75 pharmacology) | $40

Infective endocarditis (IE) is defined by a focus on infection within the heart and is a feared disease by clinicians as the challenges posed by IE are significant. IE frequency occurs in patients without heart disease, those with devices and in intravenous drug users. With the rising increase in this disease, it is imperative that clinicals are able to recognize and promptly treat these individuals. Learn about risks for IE, diagnosis and treatment, and the lasts relevant guidelines. | 1.0 credits (0.50 Pharmacology) | $30

In this cost conscious era, NPs need to be aware of what test will provide the most amount of information to make appropriate clinical decisions. Diagnostic tests are ordered to answer specific questions. NPs need to be aware of the sensitivity and specificity of each test, as well as associated appropriate use criteria. Information will be provided on, but not limited to multiple forms of testing such as stress testing, echocardiograms, nuclear test, and ultrasound imaging. | 1.0 credits (1.25 Pharmacology) | $30

The Basic Workshop will give learners a foundation to gain confidence reading EKG’s. We will cover the waves, the intervals, the segements, EKG Terminology Arrythmias and how to break down a 12 lead with a ten step systematic approach. | 3.00 credits (0.00 pharmacology) | $105

This course will use a hands on approach with real cases to understand the high risk EKG findings. We will cover what to look for on a sports physical ekg, what patients need to be referred to the ER and which findings can wait for cardiology referral. We will also cover STEMI and subtle ischemia the machine will miss. Participants will get a hands on workbook to use during the course and a cheat sheet. | 3.00 credits (0.00 pharmacology) | $105
