
Arthritis 2022: New Diagnostic and Treatment Options for OA and RA

Over the past 10 years, many of the options available to treat osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis have come under scrutiny. Many products have been pulled from the market. Throughout this lecture, Ms. Wright will discuss the pathophysiology of osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. In addition, all pharmacologic therapies currently utilized for patients with both OA and RA will be discussed including their use, side effects, benefits, and drug-drug interactions.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES
After taking part in this educational activity, participants should be better able to:
1) Discuss the pathophysiology of osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis2) Identify the non-pharmacologic and pharmacologic agents available for the treatment of osteoarthritis and RA.
3) Compare and contrast newer pharmacologic agents with older agents with regard to benefits, risks, side effects, and drug interactions.

Wendy Wright, DNP, FNP-C, FAANP, FAAN is a seasoned nurse practitioner with a distinguished career spanning decades. Dr. Wright has been recognized for her contributions to the nursing profession through various awards and fellowships. In 2024, Dr. Wright was named as one of the Top 100 Scholars in the past 100 years by the University of Alabama. She has been named the NH Nurse Practitioner of the Year, Advocate of the Year, a Top 5 Woman Led Business in New Hampshire, and one of the Top 10 NPs in America in 2018, 2023, and 2024. Additionally, she is a Fellow of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, the American Academy of Nursing, and the National Academies of Practice.
Dr. Wright is an author of 2 textbooks and an international bestseller called Breaking the Cycle, an introspective look at her childhood and life while growing up in rural New Hampshire.
She is a sought-after speaker, presenting nationally and internationally on various topics related to clinical practice and entrepreneurship. Her expertise has led to her involvement as a medical media spokesperson and consultant for malpractice attorneys.
