This presentation will review the newest options and recommendations for contraceptive management. We will cover newly available methods as well as those more established. The presentation will also cover strategies to improve contraception adherence including common mistakes patients make and how to address them.

Clinical Instructor, Boston College Connell School of Nursing

Alison Marshall is a board certified, practicing Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP). She earned her Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Sociology with Honors from Boston College in 2000, and her master’s in nursing from Yale University in 2005. She has completed her PhD coursework and is working on her dissertation, with expected graduation in 2024. Her research is focused on the connection between genital hair modification practices and the associated risk of acquiring sexually transmitted infections

Alison’s nursing practice is based in Massachusetts. She is a full-time Clinical Instructor at the Boston College Connell School of Nursing as well as Faculty at The Sylvie Ratelle STD/HIV Prevention Center of New England, a Centers for Disease Control (CDC) funded national training organization for practicing providers. Alison has practiced clinically at the South Boston Community Health Center since 2005

Alison lives happily in Cambridge, Massachusetts with her husband, daughter, and their French bulldog, Jarvis.

To earn credits for this activity, you must complete all course components in the following order: 1) watch the course presentation video; 2) complete the course evaluation; 3) pass the post-test with a score of 2/3 (66.7%) or higher.
